Michelle Maclean

Strathclyde University

Michelle Maclean is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Strathclyde (Glasgow, UK). She received her BSc(Hons) degree in Microbiology and Immunology in 2002, and her PhD in 2006 and then held positions as post-doctoral Research Fellow (2006-2013), and Strathclyde Chancellors Fellow (2104-2017) at the University of Strathclyde. Based at The Robertson Trust Laboratory for Electronic Sterilisation Technologies at Strathclyde, her work is focused on the research, development and commercialisation of visible light based decontamination technologies for infection control applications. The work by her and her colleagues was recognised by the UK Times Higher Education Award for Research Project of the Year in 2011, and the University is currently commercialising the technology through routes including licensing agreements with lighting manufacturers.
